Bison Frames has just completed the installation of 19 windows and a set of French doors in a period cottage in Somerset. The project was a particularly interesting one for the company because of the way it came about.

The owners of the cottage in Isle Brewers in Somerset needed to replace their home’s ageing Crittall windows. The couple wanted the replacement windows to have truly authentic aesthetics but also to have all the benefits of low maintenance and thermal efficiency. The couple started to research the market and came across Bison Frames’ trade website,
Mark Tetley at Bison Frames takes up the story. “We had a phone call from the couple wanting to find out more. They told us they had been blown away by the authenticity of our products combined with their modern day benefits.”

The Bison team worked with the couple to decide on the windows that were most suitable for the charming cottage setting. The couple then commissioned the 19 windows and one set of French doors that were needed. Seventeen of the windows are white foil inside and out with astragal glazing. The two porch windows are Dark Oak from the Bison foil range and fitted with antique lead. All the windows are fully mechanically jointed on the outerframe to create the stunningly authentic appearance for which Bison’s heritage products are renowned and which so impressed the cottage’s owners.

The finished result is stunning. A chocolate box cottage in a picturesque village has been enhanced with new windows that not only look the part but have brought low maintenance and thermal efficiency too.
Perhaps more importantly, the couple are delighted with the results and the way their home has been transformed.

Mark concludes: “We’re a trade company and our website is pitched at the trade. The fact that homeowners came across it and were convinced by the benefits of what our products have to offer goes to show that they really do speak for themselves.” Which is probably why the company’s products are proving so popular in the marketplace!
